Basil, Lemon and Rosemary Essential Oil and Herb Soap.
Tried and tested, soap recipes which are easy and fun to make - using only olive oil as the base oil in the soap.
Homemade Soap Recipes, Basil, Lemon and Rosemary Essential Oil and Herb Soap, an antibacterial and revitalizing soap.
Soap making Ingredients, all weighed out on a scale.
20 oz of Olive oil
2.5 oz Lye
7.5 oz Water
10 drops Basil Essential Oil
10 drops Lemon Essential Oil
5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
3 tbs chopped Rosemary Herb.
Equipment that you need.
Steel pan
Pyrex jug
Candy thermometer
2 wooden spoons
Stick blender
Eye protection and rubber gloves (health and safety !)
Greaseproof paper
Plastic cartons or silicone cake moulds.
Soapmaking Instructions.
1. Put water into jug, place jug in sink.
2.Open window, don eye-protection and rubber gloves.
3.Gently sprinkle lye into the water, mix gently,with wooden spoon, it will get very hot.
Take care not to splash it about.
4.Leave the jug in the sink.
5.Heat the oil in the steel pan, over a gentle heat until it reaches 110F, use the candy thermometer.
6.Test lye temperature when it is also 110F, gently add into the heated oil.
7.Mix lye and oil together using the stick blender.....carefully !
8.When the mixture resembles creamy custard and is at the point where a drizzle of the mix will lay briefly on top of the mixture, "trace" has been reached.
9.Add all the essential oils and chopped rosemary herb, give the soap mixture another gentle zizz with the stick blender, so that all of the newly added ingredients are combined evenly throughout the mixture.
Thats It !
Now pour the mixture into your chosen mould.
Smooth down mix.
Cover with greaseproof paper.
Wrap blankets over the top and walk away for 2 days.
After 48 hours, take out of the molds.
Place onto greaseproof paper and leave for 5 weeks to "cure".
After 5 weeks the Basil,Lemon and Rosemary soap is ready.
